Day 28 – Recharge!

I wasn’t really sure what to write tonight, since it’s going to be a pretty uneventful evening for myself.  I’ve been craving a night in for a looooong time.  It’s hard to say no for the reason of “I need to stay home by myself tonight”.  Fun times.  Sounds kinda lame, but it’s one of the big ways that I show love to myself.  I need it!!  And my friends understand.  Who isn’t pooped after a long week??!!

I went searching into some of my favourite books for some words of inspiration and here’s what popped out for April 8th from the book ‘The Language of Letting Go’ by Melody Beattie (a good book that helped me through my break- up last summer!):

“Rest when you’re tired.  Take a drink of cold water when you’re thirsty.  Call a friend when you’re lonely. Many of us are afraid the work won’t get done if we rest when we’re tired.  The work will get done; it will be done better than work that emerges from tiredness of soul and spirit.  Nurtured, nourished people, who love themselves and care for themselves, are the delight of the Universe. :)   They are well-timed, efficient, and Devinely led”.

Well said!  In order to do what we love, we have to feel recharged!  So I choose to do what I love tonight so that I can continue doing what I love tomorrow, and the next day, and the day after that.  One of my favourite things to do on a Sunday is get up when the sun wakes me up and go for a long run around Stanley Park.  I love this.  I crave it.  It’s my meditation.  It’s my zen.  So tonight, it’s me and my healthy dinner, a few chick flicks and a whole bunch of magazines getting ready to inspire the wall around my workspace.  I’m feeling inspired by doing what my body needs.

Do what you love.  “Doing what you love is the cornerstone of having abundance in your life” (Thanks Mr. Dyer!).  Re-charge your batteries.  Fill your love tank up so that you can spread it everywhere you go, doing what you love, EN-JOYing LIFE!

Smile with your heart!

  2. Correction Sarah Kay: If I Should have a Daughter… TedTalks

  3. I just went to TedxMileHigh in Denver, CO this week! Love Sarah Kaye… I also just finished my vision board on an R&R night home. Work for me is uber stressful and with hectic social/community obligations, nearly daily I feel like I’m running around preparing for next steps in my life hoping if I work hard to get it done (like you mention in your post today!) that it will end. Well, we know that it doesn’t end; just moves on to the next task, idea, etc. Reading your blog, Jenn, reminds me to pause…look around and enjoy these moments because they ARE my life; not something I’m working through to check off my list. Jenn, you are an inspiration and joy to us all!

  4. Last night I stayed in and watched TED talks for an hour while I ironed fabric for the new quilt I’m starting. Did I mention that I have the hobbies of a 70-year-old woman? It was a night just for me and I don’t care how geeky it was, it was perfect! Thanks for reminding me that nurturing my soul is both OKAY and NECESSARY. Now I should probably get going on that homework that’s been piling up all weekend… oops! Thanks, JT!

  5. Great post! I have “me” nights as much as I can, I need to recharge and I deserve it :) I have just discovered your blog recently and I find it so inspiring, keep up the amazing posts! I am currently working my way from the beginning, reading your journey, and I’m loving all your adventures!

    • From the BEGINNING!! That’s awesome!! Let me know if you think I might be able to turn this into a book! :) One day!!! Thanks for reading and commenting!! :)
