I woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning.  I officially hit the wall last night and had to leave the pub early because I was just too tired to even stand.  I was in a bit of a funk this morning, so I just layed in bed for as long as I could.  It was hard for me to wake up smiling this morning, so I just listened to that and accepted it.  It actually felt pretty good to just be blah, listening to the rain and doing absolutely nothing.

My day started getting better when, still laying in bed, I had a skype date with my Grandma from Germany.  I rolled out of bed, now smiling, and felt even better with my strong morning coffee and my usual oatmeal with peanut butter (always brings a smile this way!).  I went grocery shopping and filled up my fridge with tons of healthy eats.  Made some healthy meals for the week too.  I now feel super inspired opening that thing up and looking in knowing that there are lots of healthy choices!  I also wrote down my goals and posted them on my fridge.  Now my fridge feels inspiring from the inside and out!  He is a happy camper.  The day continued to get better with a visit from Mandy (thank you for the flowers!) .  She always leaves me feeling inspired.  Thank you!

Then I went to yoga. It was the kick off class for Semperviva’s 40 day challenge.  I was still kind of in a funk so it wasn’t easy getting out of the house.  Once I got there, the energy of the room made me perk up.  There were at least 100 people all stoked to start their first day of 40 days of yoga.  Amazing.  It was a mixed class of the 4 types of yoga offered at Semperviva: Yin, Hatha,
Vinyasa and Kundalini.  It was a nice reminder for me to mix it up since I got something great out of them all.  I remember a specific moment during the yin portion where I just started smiling. I “got it”.  I had received the yoga stoke.  I was so glad to have been there.  It got me really excited and stoked about practicing 40 days of yoga.  I was initially scared, but knowing that there are many others trying to accomplish the same thing made me feel much more confident about it.  Here’s a picture of Tracy and I, who is a good friend from lulu.  Together we will be doing our very first challenge of 40 continuous yoga classes – we are going to keep each other accountable!

The 4o days of yoga isn’t just about poses and physical practice for me.  I am curious as to what else I will learn and how much I will grow from it.  How I will transform. What I want to gain from this challenge is a new found sense of calmness.  I want to feel and become calm.  A confident calmness that people can sense, and that puts them at ease.  I want to start living more cleanly. More smoothies and less cookies.  (I KNOOOOW!  How am I going to do it?! Less cookies!)  But I will.  I choose clean and calm.  I already feel better after one day of visualizing a clean, healthy, happy and calm body.  It feels good.  It feels just like January 1st (minus the hangover) – super stoked to clean up my act with a fresh start.  I REALLY love these 40 day challenges.  I’m hooked.  Things become habits and I’m given a fresh start every 40 days.  What’s not to love about that?

We have a choice to be happy. We decide. Happiness is a choice.  I recognize that not everything else in life is necessarily a choice, but happiness is.  It starts when your eyes slowly open as you awaken in the morning.  From that moment of light, your choice begins.  Will this be a good day, or do I choose to be grumpy and sad.  What do you choose?  I choose happiness.  I am committed. All it takes is a decision to be committed.  Commit yourself to a fresh start on this challenge.  Commit yourself to your goals.  Committ yourself to happiness.  Do things that make you feel good and that will help bring more and more happiness into your life.  Soon you will become overwhelmed with the amount of  joy that just flows in from every direction.  It is a beautiful life.

Smile with your heart!

One more thing!!  If you have been inspired by my blog and think that someone special in your life might also enjoy it, PLEASE PASS IT FORWARD!! I would be so grateful if you sent an email to a few friends or posted this link on your local lululemon stores facebook page, or even your own!  I appreciate the friends who have helped me spread the word.  THANK YOU!  I have a feeling that this is going to be good – and I want nothing but to share this love!  THANK YOU!

Happy Day One of your 40 day challenge!  You will love it.

Thanks Mish for the Nutella house warming gift!!  And the homemade soup – I love it!  I promise not to down the nutella jar as fast as I did when we were in Italy and you practically had to roll me off the plane from eating too much of it.  BAHAHAA!!

No more victims here, only the life I’ve always knew I should live. I started the 40 day challenge too. You can see my goals at my blog – Happiness. Enthusiasm. Optimism. This 40 day challenge will be a new thing for me, but I like new things so I’m looking forward to it. :)

  3. Hello, I was going shopping yesterday to do my shopping for the week and to get some healthy snacks and such and I read your blog today and I was wondering what is usually on your shopping list…? I know the number one thing on my list is Almond Milk (love it)

    • Lets see… I usually just try to get as may veggies and fruit as possible. My staples include chicken, quinoa, eggs and almonds. If I have time I try to cut up a bunch of veggies so they are easy to grab, and I wash the fruit so I can just easily snack on it. Oh, rice crackers are a good snack too with humous! Hope this helps!!!

  4. I am so excited for our 40 day yoga challenge! I am also signed up for Seane Corn next Sat and Sun – come with!!

I stumbled on your blog thru an email I received from Lululemon. I absolutely love it and find you extremely inspiring and genuine. Exactly what I needed at this moment in my life. I will help you achieve your goal #3 by making sure to visit your site daily from now on. Thanks for sharing.

  6. I love your blog and I’ve definitely been inspired by it. Your life and your journey is so interesting. I’m actually in the middle of reading a really good book, Crazy Sexy Diet by Kris Carr. She talks about all the benefits of “clean” eating and offers some good juice/smoothie recipes. If you haven’t read it, you should definitely look into it.

  7. I posted a link to your site on my page too!! And one of my friends has already been inspired by you =)

  8. I have been very inspired by your blog since I discovered it via lululemon and have been reading it daily. You can really put a smile on my face and remind me to be grateful when I’m down or grumpy. I’ve told my friends about your blog and know I’ve gotten at least one of them hooked. Passed it on. Thank you for being real and owning it even when you’re down. Nobody is up all the time. I’ve never before thought to be grateful for the experience of being sad, lonely or angry. This has put a whole new perspective on life and I already notice a change in my attitude. I even started a blog of my own. I don’t have a lot to say on it just yet, but I’m on a good path to better myself. It sounds totally cheesy but you’ve changed my life. One night I was depressed and browsing at 1 A.M. unemployed with no direction in my life and now I’m setting crazy goals for myself and I feel vibrant and alive with possibility. Thank you Jenn!

    • You are welcome!! haha.. I don’t how I’ve been able to write all of my feelings all over the internet, but I’m glad it helps!! Thank you for reading and commenting!! Congrats on setting big hairy goals!!! YEAH to possibility!!!!! :)
