Day 37 – What are you waiting for??!

It’s happened a bunch of times when I meet someone and they find out snowshoeing is one of my favourite hobbies.  I hear them say, “I’ve always wanted to try that!”.  I then wait for the good excuse to come but when it doesn’t I say, “so why haven’t you then?!!”.  Really though, what are those things you’ve ALWAYS wanted to do but just haven’t gotten around to?  Think about it for a minute.  What are you waiting for?! I know there’s so many things out there to explore, but make sure you get to the ones you REALLY want to try.

If you’ve always wanted to try snowshoeing, and you still haven’t after hearing me talk about it all the time, block off this coming Saturday morning in your calendar and head up to Cypress Mountain.  The Yeti is hosting their 3rd race of the season (there’s a total of 4 so if you miss this one you still have Grouse on April 2nd!).  The atmosphere will be amazing.  A bunch of adults pretending to be kids running around on big floppy shoes!  And you don’t have to run.  You can just come out for a stroll or for all of the yogis out there, why not try some snow-ga?!  There’s loads of trails to explore once you’re up there. This is a perfect opportunity to try it out since they’ll be more than enough people to help you out – including myself!  I even have 2 extra pairs if you’re really keen, I don’t mind lending them out.  That’s how much I love this hobbie!  I want everyone to try it!  One of my favourite things about the yeti guys is that the races don’t start until 11am.  So that means I get to sleep in and load up on pancakes before burning my buns in the backcountry.  I can’t wait to be surrounded by trees, snow, and amazing peeps.  Come check it out!!

One big goal on my bucket list, which I seem to be waiting for someone else to do for me, is my open mic.  You’ve heard me talk about this for probably almost a year now.  Why am I so scared to get up there and sing into a mic in front of strangers.  It can’t be that bad?  I figure if I suck, I can look back and laugh and have something to definitely improve from.  Today I received an email from an old friend I used to lifeguard with.  He read through my bucket list and ASKED if he could help make this happen since he’s in a band and knows of some open mics that he could help prep me for and get up there with me.  How nice is that?!  I was blown away.  Thanks Pete!  That is what happens when you put your goals out there for everyone to see. They HAPPEN!  Even if you’re completely scared of them and don’t know HOW it will ever happen, the how somehow finds a way.

So, the thing I’ve been waiting for is getting my butt up on stage and singing 3 songs.  I guess I’m going to have to add it to my next 40 day challenge which is coming up on Sunday.  Have some goals in mind?  Join me on this next challenge!  I promise you’ll gain some positive habits and feel good about accomplishing more than you thought you could.  Semperviva (my FAVOURITE yoga studio in Kits!) just so happens to be doing their 40 day challenge starting the same day as mine.  Coincidence?  Maybe.  It’s just another one of those things in my life that seems to be aligning perfectly.  Anyways, I will be challenging myself to 40 days of yoga.  This has never been done by a Thiel before.  I will be the first!  So start thinking of some goals you want to achieve starting on Sunday.  40 days is a long time, so you can make your list as short or as long as you like.  I will help you through it, as you see me somehow make it to 40 classes of yoga and sing at an open mic (and lots more).

What are you waiting for?!  Get out there and do those things you’ve always said, “I SHOULD”.  Forget the ‘should’ part and make it an I WILL.  Remove that word from your vocabulary – for good.  ‘I should’ becomes ‘I will’.  Just a change in thought is all it takes. Done!
