Day 4 – Wisdom is….

One of my yoga teachers last week told us of a dream she had.  She dreamt that she looked up the word “wisdom” in the dictionary and this is what it read: not missing a single breath.  I love that.  I took this in more than one way.  To me it meant that we should be reminded to live in the moment.  Focusing on each moment, each breath.  If we get ahead of ourselves, thinking too far forward or too far back, we should remind ourselves to breathe in EACH breath.  Bring ourselves back to the NOW.

I also took this as a way to look at all the good AND bad moments in our lives.  It’s easy to only breathe through the easy, happy times.  It’s difficult to breathe during the tough times – the tears, anger and other emotions that just seem to creep up unexpected at always an unwanted moment.  These times are when we need to breathe the most.  These are the times we need to feel the most because if we stuff it under the rug, it’s bound to come up another time until we deal with it.

I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but right now – this breath – I’m doing pretty damn good. I’m taking in this high as much as I can right now because I know it’s not going to last forever.  I’m just enjoying THIS, every moment.  If you’ve been following this blog for a while, you’ll know me by now that my life is full of ups and downs.  Who’s isn’t though?? I just happen to write all about mine for everyone to see.  If I didn’t write about it, most people would think I’ve got it all together, that I’m always smiley and full of energy.  Well, that would be nice wouldn’t it?!  You should have seen me last week studying for my exam.  I was an emotional wreck.  I was eating for a family of 4 and pretty much hiding in my room, nose in the books.  (I think there’s a cookie shortage at Capers since I probably cleared them out last week.  Oops!)  This week, I’m laughing.  That’s life. Up and down. I’m learning to breathe in all of it.  Feeling the tough times, and enjoying the good times. Heck, I’m trying to enjoy it all.  Isn’t that the point of this all anyways?  To en-JOY?!!  I think so..  So that’s what I’m going to do tonight.  CELEBRATE with all of the Nurses!  I’m going to ride this happy wave out as long as I can – life is good!

Wisdom is: not missing a single breath.  Thanks Megan for this.  I’m trying my best to breathe it all in, and it feels good.

Smile with your heart!

p.s. Hi Grandma!  My Grandma in Germany reads my blog everyday AND is on Skype!  That’s a pretty cool Grandma if you ask me!  Love you :)

Oooooh, and for all the music lovers out there, here’s some artists I’ve stumbled upon lately which are giving me a reason to dance: Julia and Angus Stone (from Aus), The xx, Florence and the Machine (Dog Days are Over – AWESOME SONG!), Patrick Wilson, Edward Sharp & the Magnetic Zeros, Phoenix.  Tons of good stuff for you to discover!!!  So good!

And here’s a picture to make you smile – I think it should be next years Christmas card haha.  So awkward looking!!!

  1. Judging by your music suggestions, you should check out Grace Potter & The Nocturnals, they are INCREDIBLE and you must see them live if you get the chance!
