If you ask someone what their biggest goals in life are, you will often hear things like: travel the world, climb Kilimanjaro, work hard and buy a beautiful home, have a family, finish and kick BUTT in an ironman… Okay, so maybe these are some of my goals, but I’m sure you can relate to some of them. :) The one thing that all of these goals, and the majority of yours most likely have in common is that they all involve being healthy and living a healthy lifestyle.
I attended Adam’s POPfit goal setting night last Thursday. I will definitely be blogging about things I learned about setting inspiring goals, but for now I want to share the number one common goal for the majority of everyone who was there: Health.
If you think about it, what can you do without it?? Yes some of us have big goals to be in a loving relationship, have the career of our dreams, buy our dream home… but guaranteed the number one thing on our lists is our health. If we value our health we are able to love ourselves much much more, and hence make a bigger impact in the lives of the people around us. Striving for your ultimate health is definitely not selfish as it may sound. When YOU are healthy, you help lift up the hearts of everyone around you. Even think about a happy, fit, vibrant stranger standing in front of you at the grocery store who is buying a ton of vegetables and healthy food. Without really thinking about it, this healthy person has inspired you to become conscious of your own health. You start thinking about a healthy meal you can make, or when the next time is you can hit the gym. This is not even someone remotely close to you in your life, yet they have somehow inspired you. It is a ripple effect! Think of how many people you can inspire just by “selfishly” putting YOURself and your health first!
The reason I’m writing about this today, is because I am so grateful to have a job where I am humbled each and everyday. Working at the hospital just seems to put things in perspective. Health, love and relationships are really the only things that seem to matter to patients and their loved ones. Health definitely is WEALTH. To have a fulfilling life requires us to put our own health first and inspire our loved ones to do the same. PLEASE value your health and encourage your family members and friends to do the same. We have control of what we put in our bodies and how we treat them, so do it kindly. We are blessed to even be able to do the simplest of things… sometimes it’s easy to forget this.
Value your health! Strive to be your healthiest possible! Encourage your loved ones to do the same. Health, love and relationships are the foundation of a wealthy, happy and fulfilling life (so I believe!!!).
Smile with your Heart :)
p.s. Carly is sporting the toupee which belongs to the infamous “N. Brown” of Douglas College, which soon will be NO LONGER for us!!! Sorry to break it to you N. Brown, but you will not be missed!
