Listen to the whispers of your body so that you don’t have to hear the screams. Ooooooh, I like this!! This is what my yoga teacher was mentioning today. It’s those little aches and pains or that constant, dull stomach cramp that is a silent cry from our body to pay attention. Start to listen to your body’s whispers. What is it telling you?? Our bodies and minds are continual feedback systems. It knows what is right. It knows the answer. Always.
I have been hearing whispers lately every time I’ve been putting on my jeans. The past few weeks of celebrating have apparently started taking it’s toll. I have been so happy with life that I’ve ignored these whispers and unfortunately heard a big scream the other day – of my jeans ripping on the upper thigh. My favourite jeans. Yes, they were worn (my excuse), but man that sucks! Ahhhhh! Well maybe it was my scream, but I was so mad – at myself! It was a wake up call to GET IT TOGETHER!!! I’m going to start eating less cookies. That’s for sure.
I’ve also noticed that my body has been ridiculously stiff lately. For some reason, I’ve felt a bit disconnected from my spiritual and grounding side. This stiffness, I believe, is telling me to become more calm and to relax. To maybe spend some more time on my own. I’ve been trying to do more hatha (relaxing) yoga than power yoga which is beginning to help. When we’re tight, our bodies are holding in emotions. Especially in our hips. I’m taking this hint from my body to acknowledge that maybe I’m holding onto something that isn’t serving me. I must be having to let go. It’s been a good wake up call.
Listen to your body! Be grateful that it is carrying you around all day. Be gentle with yourself. Send your body love. We become what we think about. If you’re wanting to lose weight, begin to tell yourself how much you love your body. Begin to feel the feelings of your ideal weight. Believe it. Tell yourself positive thoughts, and definitely avoid the negative ones. Trust me, it works!
Smile with your heart!
